HARRISON STREET PARK

Public BBQ

Tucked into a quiet North Lakes housing estate, this compact park punches above its weight for BBQ enthusiasts. The well-maintained undercover barbecue area offers proper shelter with two stations and generous prep space – perfect for weekend gatherings, though you'll want to arrive early given the woefully inadequate two parking spaces. The landscaping deserves praise, providing blessed shade on scorching Queensland days. Kids gravitate toward the impressive spider web climbing structure, though traditionalists might miss the absence of swings and slides. While teenagers occasionally treat the barbecue tables as their personal playground (hardly appetising for food prep), the overall atmosphere remains family-friendly. The park's compact size suits intimate gatherings rather than large celebrations, and the lack of toilet facilities means planning ahead. Still, for a quick family barbecue or dog walk extension, it's a pleasant surprise in suburbia.
